- Worked on designing and developing multiple large systems -- Shipped a copyright protection system for the social network's posts. It identified 1.5 million groups, filtering millions of posts, and lowered the amount of daily stolen content posted by 85% after 3 years in production. --Shipped a content moderation system based on digital fingerprints. It forbids uploading more than 100k blacklisted photos, videos and audios on the platform and punishes users attempting to. This system hides around 10m content items and punishes around 50k users every year. -- Shipped account unban API for mobile clients, which allowed 15m user unblocks on mobile every year. Previously, there was only a server-rendered web version of this system, which was later also migrated to the new API. -- Migrated the content moderation system's old frontend to React. This helped solve some bugs which were unsolvable in the previous architecture, increased the interface's responsiveness, and improved the speed of future development. The system reviews 50m user content reports yearly. -- Migrated the backend communication protocol of the social network's photos database to RPC. This allowed other developers to use the code asynchronously. Additionally, thousands of lines of copy-pasted code were refactored to a single class with a couple of public methods, which solved a major technical debt for our development team. The communication code of the photos database is being called trillions of times every year. Shipped even more major high-load systems and features, which were omitted in order to keep the CV concise. - Took part in ensuring the social network's technical growth -- Lead the effort in moving the social network's frontend to React as the main library. As a result, 90% of all frontend components are now written in React and a public library of vk-styled react components is available for use by external developers. -- Helped create the KPHPStorm IDE plugin, which adds KPHP support for PhpStorm IDE. It includes strict type checking, extended type inferring, kphp-doc tags autocomplete and more. This plugin is used by all backend developers at VK. - Displayed strong leadership skills in various spheres -- Demonstrated skills with managing software development life cycles from requirements generation to architecture and design to delivery and maintenance -- Managed the prioritization of features for development within the team, and coordinated multi-team development. -- Put strong emphasis on the value of long-term benefits in development by proposing and implementing multiple features and refactorings.
